Just went to a sort of Palestine meeting/talk thing in Toledo. It was cool-ish. The speakers were amazing and knew so much. So that's cool. The audience was about half communist (of the socialist worker/marxist variety), with the rest moderates who were interested in the issue. i've no problem with communists. just wish we could reach out to moderate people a bit more. Not talk about how the problem is related to global capitalism, and not use incendiary language that really pushes the majority of americans away from taking the issue seriously.

The speakers took a level-headed approach that would resonate with most anybody. They were lawyers, and one was a nun who goes back and forth between the West Bank and Ohio to give talks and spread information. See taught at central in the 1970s and 80s. She really rocked, actually. All cool. Yeah I guess I really want more moderates to attend talks like that. It's an interesting problem.

I've been strangely successful in getting through parts of my dissertation work-load. It's down to a system. Mornings until two in the afternoon I work on the paper, and try to do some writing once a week so I'm not overloaded with material. I may even finish it on time without stress.

After dissertationing, I jog 3 days a week. Ted was in town last week and got me pumped up to do the half marathon, so 3 days is a bare minimum i need in order to do so in early may. It's really fun, even in the cold.

I need to add new times to work - I'm taking the state exams for Insurance sales in two weeks, and I chose the self-study option, of course, so I have to study for that like an hour or so every day.

Oh yeah... I got a job!!!!! With an insurance company. Sales. Bet you guessed that already though.

I just want to make money so I can afford to fly to London in May and retake the exam I failed. No joke. Oh and I have to start studying for that too... probably after the State insurance exams. So I'm staying productive and busy, but not keeping up too much with music (though I'm playing a bit), and haven't been going to the bars much at all, which is sad because that's how I see many people. It's temporary, though. I'll relax after I start work and make money, and after the bulk of a first draft of the dissertation is done.

:)

Tomorrow, I will be watching Barack Obama's inauguration with my octogenarian great-aunt Bee, the one who grew up in rural Missouri and remembers when they first got a radio. She called up my mom today and said "Cindy, I know you didn't vote for him, but this is historic!" Way to put her in her place, Aunt Bee. I'm looking forward to hearing her comments during Obama's address.
